The app connects through Mercedes-Benz's official interface, provided by Mercedes-Benz Connectivity Services GmbH.
Connecting your Mercedes-Benz
- In the app, choose to add a car and pick Mercedes-Benz.
- Log in with your Mercedes me account on the Mercedes-Benz login page. Use the account of the car's master user.
- On the consent screen, switch on Status and position of your connected electric vehicles.
- Select your car and set your ready-by time in the app.
What your car needs
- Master user: you must be the master user of the car in Mercedes me.
- Mercedes me contract: an active Mercedes me account with a connectivity contract.
- Four Mercedes me services switched on:
- Remote Vehicle Status
- Parked Vehicle Locator
- Charging Settings & Pre-Entry Climate
- Digital Assistants
- Charging program set to Home: keep the charging program in the Mercedes app on Home. With Instant charging, Mercedes blocks all remote commands (error 7404) and smart charging does not work.
If you switch off data sharing in your Mercedes me account, or switch off one of the four services, the app loses access.
After connecting
Mercedes-Benz switches on a charging service on their side for your car. This can take a few minutes or a few days. The first data arrives only after the car has been plugged in or driven.
If you still see no data 24 hours after plugging in or driving, contact the support team of your app.
Location
Smart charging only controls charging at your home location, set in your Mercedes me account. The car only sends its location while it is charging.
Minimum charge level before smart charging
Some Mercedes-Benz models do not let charging be paused below a minimum battery level set by Mercedes-Benz. Until the battery reaches that level, the car charges whatever the price.
- EQA, EQB, EQC and plug-in hybrids: 50%.
- Electric GLC: 30%.
- EQS and EQE: not affected.
This is a Mercedes-Benz rule. Plug in often to keep the battery above that level, so smart charging can plan the rest of the charge.
On the EQA, EQB and EQC, a stop command can reset the Home charge limit in the car to 50%. Check the charge limit in the Mercedes app if your car stops at 50%.
Turn off Mercedes-Benz's own scheduling
Keep the charging program on Home and do not use Instant charging. The car's own charge limit always wins, so smart charging stops there.
What data is shared
- Vehicle information: battery level and charging status.
- Location: only to check whether the car is at home, and only while charging.
- Charging control: start and stop commands.
Removing access
Remove the car in the app, or switch off data sharing in your Mercedes me account. Either one ends smart charging for the car.
Still not working?
Contact the support team of your app. If your app comes from your energy supplier, that is your energy supplier's customer service. Tell them your car brand and model, when it happened, and add a screenshot of the app.
