If the app says the connection to your car was lost, or the data stopped updating while your car's own app is fresh, the link between the app and your car account has dropped. Adding the car again fixes most cases. Work through these checks first to find the cause.
1. Did you change the password of your car account?
If you changed the password of your car account, for example your Tesla, My BMW or Mercedes me account, the link can stop working. Add the car again with the new password.
2. Did your car get a software update?
A car software update can disconnect Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, Cupra and SEAT cars. Add the car again.
3. BMW and MINI: was the car unused for 90 days?
The connection to a BMW or MINI expires after 90 days without use. Add the car again.
4. Tesla: is access still allowed?
Check that Gridio is still listed under Third Party Apps in your Tesla account and that the virtual key is still approved. Gridio is the company that runs smart charging for the app. See Tesla Troubleshooting Guide.
5. Are the car's connected services still active?
If the connected services or remote services of your car expired, the brand stops sharing data. Renew them with the car brand, then add the car again.
6. Remove the car and add it again
- In the app, remove the car.
- Choose to add a car and pick your brand.
- Log in with the same car account as before, using the main user's account.
- Give all the permissions and consents the brand asks for.
- Check your smart charging settings, such as ready-by time and maximum price.
If adding the car fails, see I Can't Add My Car.
Still not working?
Contact the support team of your app. If your app comes from your energy supplier, that is your energy supplier's customer service. Tell them your car brand and model, when the connection was lost, and anything that changed around that time, such as a new password or a car update. A screenshot of the app helps.
